Things King David Didn’t Know About

27 03 2006

Ok, so Psalm 139:14, we quote it all the time, I quoted it just a couple of blogs ago…

But did David know that centuries later we would be bombarded with images from the media telling us that we needed to be something else?…We need to be thinner, we need to be fatter, we need to have bigger breasts, bigger biceps, bigger triceps, longer hair, curlier hair…

Being fearfully and wonderfully made is a great antecdote for self-esteem but I don’t think any of us really believe it. Have you ever paid attention to how much time you spend on making yourself look "better"? Ladies, you know what I’m talking about…it’s the shaving/waxing, the hair dye, the weaves, the make-up, the shoes…what would we be without this stuff?  I once heard of a Christian woman who wanted to get breast implants and her Christian friends told her that she shouldn’t do that because she would be altering the way that God made her. But don’t we all do that everyday? We alter the way God made our hair when we get perms, we alter our faces when we wax our brows or when we put on make-up. I don’t have the answers…just a thought…things that make you go hmmm….
