Last night me and my family went to the Univer-soul Circus at Turner Field. It was freaking AMAZING!!! For those of you who’ve never heard of it, the Univer-soul Circus is just that–a soulful version of the circus. Think of it as a circus with a lotta flava. It JUMPED OFF with Doug E. Fresh’s "The Showstopper" so you know me and Shari was amped. And that was just a taste of the things to come because all night long they were pumping the old school jams for us old heads and the new stuff for the young folks. In between acts they had a soul train line, a kid’s dance contest, and even a karaoke/lip sync showdown. The main attractions were off the chain–from the Rough Riderz, who did acrobatics on horseback to the elephants dancing to Rihanna’s "Please Don’t Stop the Music." It was so amazing. I literally sat on the edge of my seat the whole time. All of the acts were from different countries all over the world, which is what made it even better. I guess that was the "Universal" part of the Univer-soul circus. There were trapeze artists from South Africa, contortionists from Papau New Guinea, tumblers from Beijing, Russia and the Ukraine, lion tamers from India. It really felt like a multi-cultural experience, even though the main thing was all about the SOUL.
If you get the chance, I highly recommend that you go see it before it leaves town on March 2. It’ll be so worth the trip!
